The Piping Foot is designed to accommodate cord when making piping or welting. The first step in the 2-step process is to cover the cord with a strip of fabric. The groove on the sole of the foot cradles the cord, letting it travel easily under the foot.
The second step is to sandwich the piping between two pieces of fabric, inserting it in the seam as you stitch. The groove accommodates cords that are perfect for making piping to embellish quilt edges, home dec projects and children’s clothing, using a 3- or 4- thread overlock stitch. It can be used to create and insert piping in one step. This optional accessory is available in a clear version that comes in two sizes (3mm and 5mm) for models L850, L860 & L890.
